  • Over the past 15+ years, I’ve worked for many different entities as a mental health worker and social worker. I continue to support and encourage clients at the Wellness Clinic.

I possess a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from the University of Regina and hold current registration with the Manitoba College of Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Social Workers. I am also a Registered Professional Counsellor and Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association. I have also completed a Health Coach certificate at York University in Toronto.

My years of educational and career experiences in community mental health, not-for-profit, community outreach, acute care settings, and private practice have allowed me the opportunity to work with many families, couples, and individuals. As a private practitioner, I believe in whole wellness and support my clients to develop and sustain a healthy lifestyle using a variety of different approaches. I encourage my clients to build a relationship of trust with me and allow me to help guide them as they set goals, develop new skills, and find new ways of coping.

  • Born and raised in Brandon, it has always been a dream of mine to provide my home community with access to safe informed health care. Early on in my undergraduate training, my interest in Women’s Health and Leadership was evident. I spent my time outside of school coaching a variety of girls’/women’s sports, volunteering with Midwifery Services, and training as a birth doula. I have always been open to learning and discovery, and continue to be highly curious, inquisitive, and creative, making medicine the perfect career for me. Throughout my medical school training, family medicine residency, and 4 years in practice as a family physician I have strived to educate my patients to empower them to make fully informed medical decisions.

In my roles as a family medicine residency preceptor, an obstetrical provider, a family physician, and a leader and advocate for our community, the gaps in women’s care in our community were evident. Over the last 2 years, agility, my ability to deal with daily change and operate without a map have helped me and my patients immensely. Especially in my time working on the COVID-19 ward. It was this constant change, learning, and creativity that acted as a catalyst for me (and Jenn) to create a way to fill in these gaps in care.

Sexual and reproductive health is very important to me, as is bringing awareness to the community. In my residency, I was a part of the team responsible for founding and running the Sioux Valley High School Teen Clinic. During my 4 years in practice, I have developed gyne, prenatal, and breastfeeding clinics to serve the Westman area. It has been an honor to walk with many women and their families through their pregnancy journeys (including pre-conception and infertility, prenatal, delivery, and postpartum), and look forward to building on this to provide a more holistic approach to Women’s Health.

While building my practice and skills, my husband (Rhydian) and I have been lucky enough to have 2 beautiful babies; Lena (3) and Rhys (1). Finding a supportive community, meditation, yoga and countless hours of self-development made it possible for me and my family to withstand the struggles of the post-partum period and the chaotic toddler years. We live just outside of Brandon on a farm with cattle, sheep, and horses, spending as much time outside as we can.

I look forward to growing this community through connection, empowerment, and education.

  • Hey there! My name is Rianna Tonn and I’m a Registered Dietitian at The Wellness Clinic. I graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences. I grew up in the (very) small town of Plumas, MB, and am so excited to expand the services offered to women and families in Brandon and the surrounding area.

I help women feel confident in their health journey by using a gentle nutrition approach that prioritizes improving their relationship with food + their body. I specialize in helping women break the cycle of chronic dieting, improve body image, and find food freedom. I also have experience incorporating this intuitive approach into the nutrition support of various health conditions, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and IBS.

I’m looking forward to getting started on this journey with you!

  • My name is Candace Little.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Manitoba in 2009. I currently practice in the areas of Women’s Health and Pediatric physiotherapy including pediatric pelvic health. I have been lucky enough to experience working in both the Southern and Northern areas of Manitoba and have experience with clients aged 0-100. I have worked with pediatric clients since 2011 and gained an interest in both women’s health and pediatric pelvic health following the birth of my own 3 children.

All 3 children brought a different pregnancy and birthing experience which has provided me with first-hand knowledge of issues surrounding pre, peri, and post-natal health including both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, as well as the gaps in education and preparation for this major event. In 2018, I was fortunate enough to begin my pelvic health journey and my interest has only grown since. My love for pediatrics has led me to further my knowledge of pediatric pelvic health including persistent bedwetting as well as bowel and bladder dysfunction.

I hope to expand my knowledge in the future to include pelvic health for those who have experienced trauma, trans and gender diverse clients, as well as physiotherapy intervention for breastfeeding-related conditions.

Pelvic floor treatment for women will include an intake questionnaire to better understand your pelvic floor dysfunction and goals for treatment, a discussion with your physiotherapist about the questionnaire, and a physical exam to look at body movement, and breathing. This may include an internal exam. Pediatric pelvic floor appointments will include an intake questionnaire and detailed history-taking with treatment focused on the goals identified. Pediatric intervention (unrelated to the pelvic floor) will include a detailed interview to determine physiotherapy goals and treatment.

  • Hello my name is Kimberley Broadfoot, I’m originally an Interlake girl who moved to Brandon back in 2010. Brandon has always been a special place for me as my grandparents lived here when I was younger. Growing up my family and I would come yearly to visit. Still having family in town, it was an easy transition moving to Brandon for work following my graduation from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy.

Over the last 13 years, since relocating to Brandon, I have been working in the Public Health field working in a variety of areas but mainly working with the adult/geriatric population.

With many years of work I bring with me experience in areas of rehabilitation including; post-operative care (including hip, knee, spine, and hand), post stroke, and general/geriatric rehabilitation. I’m excited to start this new adventure here at The Wellness Clinic, I truly enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team approach and I am looking forward to helping you all the best I can as part of this amazing team!

  • Hello, I am Meagan Maksuta. I am excited to join the team at The Wellness Clinic.

I graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Physiotherapy. I have ten years of experience working with a variety of clientele at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. My passion is Neurological and Geriatric Rehabilitation. I am experienced at completing home assessments with complex clients to ensure a sustainable plan. I have additional training in Fall Prevention, NDT (neurodevelopment treatment) and LSVT BIG Therapy (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment) for Parkinson’s Disease.

Often facing barriers in the public health care system, I am excited to offer therapy in client’s homes to address the critical gaps in care. Too often, older adults suffer a disabling fall that could have prevented with a physiotherapy assessment and environmental modifications. Additionally, patients have been required to remain in hospital for access to proper rehabilitation. I believe these gaps can be filled with home physiotherapy, allowing adults to successfully age in place and live their lives to the fullest.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors camping, hiking, running or just chasing my kids around the park. I find all aspects of life more enjoyable when served with coffee.

Professionally, I graduated from Minot State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. For the past 25 yrs, I have had the great privilege of working in numerous different capacities as a social worker. Fourteen years ago, I changed career paths moving to the Brandon School Division where I continue to work half-time as a social worker. In 2017 I decided there was no time like the present and enrolled in the masters in education program at Brandon University. I graduated in December 2020. My professional experience is working with clients who experience; anxiety, depression, crisis intervention, trauma, grief & loss, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, supporting families who live with addiction, co-parenting, divorce & separation. I firmly believe in honesty. Even when the message or the truth is hard, words are powerful, relationships matter, and finding strengths that have been lost along the way!

  • Hello, My name is Cristy Dourado and I was born and raised in Northern Manitoba. I carry these small town values with me everyday, the values of hard work, sense of community where everyone has a seat at the table and my personal value that everyone is entitled to feel at their best self and thrive to a greater wellness. I have been a foster parent for the last fifteen years, and proudly received Guardianship of our Indigenous children. We also have three boys who keep us on our toes and our family is centered on kindness and laughter always.

I am honoured and grateful to follow two groundbreaking, innovative, trail blazers that are prioritizing holistic health in an accessible and safe place. It's a privilege to stand beside my esteemed colleagues to serve our community and get better together.

My whole life has been a record of being drawn into the helping fields. This included being a camp counselor in my summers, volunteering at our personal care home feeding and playing cards with the elderly, working with young children that needed extra support as well as youth that had complex mental health issues until I graduated with my Psychiatric Nursing Degree. It is within that academic scope that I have had the opportunity to build my professional skills for the last thirteen years in the private, non profit and acute government sectors whether these were individual sessions, group sessions or being a trainer for staff, with the ultimate goal of helping children and adults get unstuck and moving forward towards their imagined life. I did this together with my clients as I quickly understood that the currency of trustworthiness, being non judgemental, respectfulness at all times, being a present and listening in ways that matter to people, and using shared communication that could be life changing for people in places and spaces they needed the confidence and skills to feel safe and build a better self.

I believe in being genuine, using a relationship based approach and firmly believe in a client's ability to get better on their own terms. All this becomes a powerful catalyst and motivator for meaningful and desired change.

Take a chance on yourself and walk through the door.

  • I'm Sydney, a Pediatric Sleep Consultant, and a Registered Nurse. Above all, I'm a mother to two beautiful boys aged 4 and 11 months. Since graduating in 2015, I've worked in various areas of nursing, primarily in acute and emergency medicine.

My journey into pediatric sleep began with the birth of my first son. Like many families in early parenthood, we struggled with getting quality sleep. The sleep deprivation and stress affected not only my mental health but also my daily life, marriage, and most importantly, my bond with my son.

Frustrated by the conflicting information online, I sought guidance from a sleep consultant. The personalized support I received was transformative. In a short time, my son's sleep significantly improved, bringing harmony back into our home. This positive change fueled my passion for understanding pediatric sleep, leading me to make the decision to pursue certification myself.

I delved deep into the science and mechanics of pediatric sleep, exploring different strategies and learning to create personalized sleep solutions. Equipped with knowledge and personal experience, I realized my newfound passion had become a desire to help others.

My goal is to be a guiding light for families navigating the exhausting reality of sleep challenges. I'm excited to be part of the Wellness Clinic team, eager to help families get the rest they need for improved overall health and well-being.
